Accessibility

We want Misprites to be playable by as many people as possible. This page is honest about where the game is today: some things work well, some do not yet.
What the game supports
- Reduced motion. If your operating system is set to reduce motion, the game disables screen shake and screen flashes automatically, and shortens interface animations.
- Keyboard play. Space or Enter clicks the crack and opens the rift, so the core loop does not require a mouse. Panels and buttons are standard controls reachable with Tab, with a visible focus outline.
- Sound control. All audio can be muted, and a volume slider sets its level. No information is conveyed by sound alone.
- No time pressure. Nothing in the game punishes slow play. Optional bonuses appear occasionally, but missing them costs nothing.
- No flashing hazards. The game avoids rapid full-screen flashing. High-instability visual glitches are brief, small, and disabled entirely under reduced motion.
Known limitations
- The play area is a graphical canvas and is not currently usable with a screen reader. This is the biggest gap, and we are aware of it.
- The pixel fonts are part of the game's style but can be hard to read at small sizes. Browser zoom (Ctrl and +) works and the layout adapts to it.
- Some information uses color as a shorthand (rarity colors, for example), though names and labels are always written out as well.
Conformance
Misprites aims toward WCAG 2.1 AA where it applies to a canvas game, and does not yet fully conform. Improvements ship as the game updates.
